I love cake.  It is no secret, I have a sugar addiction.  But you know what is even better than eating cake? Feeding it to sweet little ones on their first birthday. This little guy came over  – and he decided he really shouldn’t be eating the cake all alone, so he managed to drag his whole family into the fun.  I loved it.  And one of my favorite things about these sessions is all the details and expressions we get to capture, so I put a few together in a little story board here to share.

Oh, and it was a bright beautiful morning, so we got outside for some family photos too.  I don’t use backlighting very often – but I think I could get used to that hazy dreamy sunlit look.  And his golden hair was perfect for it.  Thanks for helping me try something new little guy.

This cutie was a newborn client last spring – it is so much fun to watch my clients grow!  Thank you for coming back to share your cake with me for your special birthday Baby X.

Renee, you have done a beautiful job of chronicling Baby X’s story and feelings. I do love the backlit shot. Not only do you present him as a “flying angel,” but you also capture the unique coloring of his eyes. What a doll!
