Underwater Night Dancer

Some artists create very well with a clear laid out plan. An outline of what needs to be accomplished.

That’s. Um. Not me.

Of course I can create a set of images per a clients specific ideas. But. The magic? Where I really create?

That comes when someone comes to me and lets me just roll.

When someone says – I love what you create. I want to be a part of that. Please, just do what you do.

Oh. Those words are music to my creative magic loving ears!

And Jill did just that.

Underwater in the DARK?

We did this session at night. And it was a wild ride. But she was there for it!

I posted on social media that I was looking for a model to try something new in exchange for a discounted session – that night! And Jill reached out.

As a former NBA Hornets Dancer and a great swimmer, Jill was an amazing Underwater Night Dancer. And she was perfect for a fun night of trying out new techniques and, honestly, just having a fun summer evening!

I kept telling her, this may be clunky, but I promise the MAGIC will be spot on. And it was!!

How do you create?

How do you create best? With an outline and a plan? Or blind? (What I like to call it magical chaos 😂)

Time and again, the sessions where we create the very best images are the ones where clients trust the process and let creativity flow. I guide every single person that comes into my pool. We talk about posing, breathholds, safety, all of it. And I always have an outline of a plan in my head.

But, the very best images. The ones that end up being the client favorites the majority of the time? Those images are almost always created on the spur of the moment. I see the way the water is flowing, the way the light is hitting, a certain way a client is able to move…. And I know. I know in that moment that we are about to create something special!

And I can’t thank my amazing clients enough for trusting my magical chaos!!!

Underwater Make-up Artist

Jillian is a talented makeup artist herself and we have worked together before. She was my MUA for our big Underwater Branding Session with The Copywriter Club. Remember the one where we sunk just about everything podcast and writing related we could think of, books, podcast mic, table and chairs, oh, and the antique typewriter!

So it is no surprise that she did an amazing job on her own makeup for our session! Look at those smokey eyes – just gorgeous!

Thanks for such a fun evening of creativity and MAGIC as my Underwater Night Dancer Jill!!

Jill was wearing a bikini, but we were able to create incredible images with fabric, light, movement, and posing.

Backlit Feature

Recently, the NAPCP Inspired Magazine is featured images that are Backlit.

This session might not fit the traditional family photographer’s idea of backlit with warm sunset evenings and golden halos bouncing off a little one’s sweet head. But I am honored to share that one of the images was included in the August edition.
