Old Friends
How much fun was it to connect with old friends on my business trip up to DC?!? I needed to travel up to connect with my business partner for a weekend of spreadsheets and organization. So I knew I needed to throw some creativity in there too! I loved that I was able to book two very different sessions while I was there. You might remember the super fun bold colorful wall from Reston with my DC Super Model. Both so fun ~ but fashion shoot at an art wall to family session at the DC Monuments was quite the switch!
Hometown Tourists ~ the DC Monuments
My second session was a family sunset session and we decided to meet at the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall. Not only is it one of the great icons of DC, but its quite simply, just beautiful! The white stone with lush green spring grass in the background.
It was a beautiful spring Sunday evening and just a perfect setting. Now, it *may* have been a little busier than it looks ~ photoshop can be a photographer’s best friend 😉 But it was absolutely worth the extra editing time to help create the images that the P family are using for their beautiful collage wall in their home. I can’t wait to see the final product! They have chosen some stunning images and I believe it will be a beautiful wall of art that they will treasure as a family for years to come.
Preschool Buddies
Their oldest daughter started three year old preschool with my Benjamin at The Langley School when we lived in Virginia ~ nearly eight years ago! Though we moved away about five years ago, we still keep in touch with a handful of dear friends from our time at that special spot, mostly via social media. Benjamin attended school there for three years and we had a wonderful community of friends.
The number one hardest part of each of our big moves ~ first from Washington DC to Kansas City, and then from Kansas to Charlotte, North Carolina ~ has without a doubt been leaving our communities. Our school, our church, our neighborhood, our friends ~ all were like family to us. We do stay in touch. I get to DC when I can, we have visited friends from Kansas in NYC and in fact, we are stopping in Texas next week to visit KC friends who have moved there! And of course we have found wonderful friends in each new spot.
Each location still holds a special place in our hearts ~ primarily due to the people and relationships that made that locality home.
Can you choose?
I loved photographing this beautiful family! I can’t wait to get started designing their Coffee Table Album when I return from California in two weeks!
They had trouble choosing a favorite family image ~ which one is your favorite!?!
